Our 2,100 sq. foot, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, pet friendly, cabin is situated on 1.5 acres overlooking the southern edge of Columbine lake off the back decks and the Hermosa Cliffs to the front and is located just 2 miles from Purgatory and 25 miles (less then 30 minutes) to downtown Durango. The cabin has been completed remodeled and features an open floor plan, wood burning fireplace, game table, large back deck with seating and a bbq grill. The cabin is located right off highway 550 via a paved driveway, so 4WD is NOT required any time of the year and there is plenty of parking for multiple vehicles/trailers.
There are two exceptional recreational lakes nearby, Electra and Havilland, and the area is replete with hiking trails and recreational diversity including snowshoeing and cross country skiing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, mountain biking and many many other recreational pursuits. Let this wonderful property with its best-in-class location be your home base for adventure, or your tranquil and quiet respite in the midst of the stunning beauty of the San Juan National Forest.

This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay). No Cats allowed.
Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).
Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.
Cancellation Policy: A non-refundable payment of $300 is required at the time of booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time of the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes to stay dates, including changes that result in a shortened stay, are not permitted within 30 days of arrival, and any such changes will result in a penalty. Cancellations or changes that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date, forfeit the entire reservation amount while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date. We do offer travel insurance.

Summary: We had a wonderful relaxing break here. It had great views of the lake, and a distant mountain. It was easy to get to both Durango and Silverton from the property, but we also enjoyed a couple of days hanging out and just relaxing at the house. I was slightly worried ahead of time because it was so close to the main road, but the road noise wasn't bad.

If your in the area for hiking or jeep trails then this is a perfect location for you. I will say to check between the pillows before laying down, we had a little chipmunk run from between the pillows as we were getting ready for bed, and he ran across us while we slept a few time, catching him wasn't a option as he was FAST. I also recommend keeping all food in the fridge or microwave, we had mice chew a hole in several food bags over our stay. Overall it's a cabin in the deep woods of Colorado so it's a give and take with nature and convenience.

And there was a load of bed linen still very damp in the dryer. overall, a good experience would do it again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location was great, the property has an amazing view off of the back porch with lots of land for the dogs to roam on. The house is on the highway so expect some road noise during the day but calms down at nighttime and wasn't disruptive just notable. The house is well furnished, good wifi speed, well equipped kitchen (would suggest to stop by and see what's already there before making your grocery list!) Beds were comfortable, washer worked well, dryer needed a couple of rounds to fully dry the clothes, just a tip! The grill worked well as did the stove top, didn't use the oven. The management company was very helpful and responsive when needed. Marked 4 stars for cleanliness bc we did have to dust when we got there but could be from it not being stayed in for awhile. It's dusty in the mountains.

Summary: A week with family under the stars of southwest Colorado. This place did not disappoint and allowed for a wonderful week in the mountains, beside a fire and in close proximity to some of the best mountain views Colorado has to offer. Property was clean, stocked, comfortable and as advertised.

Summary: The cabin was comfortable and charming and made for a very nice getaway vacation. We were disappointed to see so much dust in the living room, especially after paying such a high cleaning fee. Never received a return phone call from management for help with DIRECTV issue and a question about the main ceiling fan. Fortunately, we were able to figure it out and all ended well.

Tons of sitting room for relaxing and enjoying a fire after a day outside. Kitchen has everything you need to cook in. We didn't use the decks or the grill. Wish the sauna was working!

The views from the front and back are beautiful. More snow removal on the back porch would have been nice as it was partially covered in snow when we arrived. But overall loved the A frame cabin and would go back. Wish i could live in Durango all year.
